| Team Iowa Dance Marathon Totals | 
This school year, our 16 collegiate Dance Marathon programs across Eastern Iowa raised a grand total of $1,952,234.26 for the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital through their year-round fundraising effort! We are so fortunate to have such a robust community of collegiate student leaders who continue to lead Dance Marathon to new heights and milestones. In fact, since Dance Marathon started here in Iowa 30 years ago, they’ve collectively surpassed $50 million in fundraising for our hospital! Scott Fedler is celebrating 20 years on June 19. | | | Policy Changes Impacting P&S Staff Effective July 1, 2023, there are several key changes to Professional and Scientific staff (P&S) policy.
This P&S Policy Change summary contains specific information to the changes.
These changes have been developed in consultation with UI Staff Council and were vetted through the shared governance process. The updates considered peer benchmarking with Big Ten institutions and will simplify policy and procedures across multiple P&S employee groups.

The recipients - which include a faculty member, group, and trainee - were announced June 1, 2023 at the Culturally Responsive Health Care in Iowa Conference. This year's faculty award was presented to Joyce Goins-Fernandez, PhD. Congratulations!

Faculty and trainees are encouraged to attend to listen to the great improvement work done by our residents. This symposium will be presented in conjunction with Pediatric Grand Rounds.

Iowa City Pride Fest Parade and Unity March
Join the UI Health Care float at the Iowa City Pride Fest and Unity March on Saturday, June 17, 2023, in downtown Iowa City from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m.

| | | Campus Wellness Scavenger Hung The Campus Wellness Scavenger Hunt is a self-paced activity that you can complete by visiting each location physically or virtually to learn about campus treasures. This year's program will run all summer and fall from June 1 - November 17, 2023, and the theme will feature history of architecture and urban landscape on our UI campus.
Register for the program to receive emails with more information about the destinations and bonus code hints throughout the program. | | | | Midwest Society for Pediatric Research (MSPR) - Call for Abstract Submission The Midwest Society for Pediatric Research is pleased to announce the 2023 Call for Abstracts will open from June 5 - July 14, 2023.
The 2023 MSPR Scientific Meeting will be held at Northwestern Medicine - Prentice Women's Hospital in Chicago from October 11 - 13, 2023. The meeting will feature outstanding pediatric research from around the Midwest and is a great opportunity for trainees and faculty at all levels to present their work.

Researchers in the Department of Pediatrics are inviting healthy infants, under 2 months of age, to participate in a research study of brain development. Infants must be of full-term birth (37-42 wk gest.) and free from major medical or neurologic conditions or any previous surgeries.
Participants will undergo behavioral assessment, vocal recordings, brain imaging (using Magnetic Resonance Imaging or MRI [no sedation radiation exposure] and functional Near Infrared Spectroscopy [fNIRS]), and oxygen monitoring. This study will require two visits (at 2 months and 6-8 months), lasting approximately three hours each.
