Peds Express: News from and for the University of Iowa Stead Family Department of Pediatrics

Provider Communication Program Openings

Providers,

As you are aware, the department has a goal of reaching 100% completion of the Provider Communication Program by the end of this fiscal year. Currently, November and December virtual sessions are offering waiting lists, and there are still a few spots available for the in-person workshop. Spring class offerings have now been posted, and are entirely in person. There is no plan for offering additional virtual classes at this time.

Thank you to those of you who have already enrolled in or completed the session. We appreciate your participation and invite you to share your experience with a colleague who hasn't yet enrolled.

If you haven't yet enrolled, visit your Self Service > My Training and enter "PROCOM" in the course number box, or follow this link to login and view the available sessions.

Please reach out to either one of us with any questions regarding this program.

Thank you,

Read on for how you can help address vaccinations with patients and families.

Additionally, several COVID-19 informational resources—including our MyChart video visit page—are available on uihc.org for our community, including translated copy in Arabic, French, Spanish, Swahili, and Mandarin.

How to address COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy with your patients in five easy steps

National Injury Prevention Day

Injuries are the leading cause of death and disability to U.S. children from ages one to 18 years old. Every day, 20 children die from preventable injuries, resulting in more deaths than all other diseases combined. In fact, injury is the leading cause of death for people through 44 years of age.

On Thursday, November 18, our hospital injury prevention specialists and the country's leading injury and violence prevention organizations will join forces for the 2nd annual "National Injury Prevention Day," a day designed to raise awareness about the burden of injury, violence, and a need for change.

Injuries are preventable. Be a part of the change. Raise awareness. Shine a green light November 18th. #BeInjuryFree
