Intent: To inform you that you are eligible for the State of Iowa Vacation Payout program.

Dear eligible employee,

The University of Iowa, including UI Health Care, will once again participate in the State of Iowa Vacation Payout for FY 2023 program.

As an eligible employee, you will automatically receive a payout of 16 hours from your banked balance on your Aug. 1 monthly paycheck. This payout will reduce 16 hours of banked balance from your vacation hours. Your current banked hours are in Vacation & Sick Leave within Employee Self-Service.

It is important to note this payment of 16 hours from your banked balance is subject to all applicable payroll tax withholding. To remain eligible for this program, you must have a minimum 160 total vacation hours and at least 16 hours in your banked balance, after May 2023 time records are processed and calculated in late June. Furthermore, you must remain employed through July 31, 2023.

The automatic payout will be calculated using your fiscal year end (June 30, 2023) regular hourly rate. Payouts will not be prorated for eligible employees with an appointment of less than 40 hours a week.
