Your Overdue U-Bill and Upcoming Early Registration

As of April 27, 2021, our records indicate a hold on your registration for fall 2021 due to a past due University Bill. If you have already paid your University Bill you may disregard this message. See below for ways you may be able to get registered.

  • Pay your past due balance below $100 and your registration restriction is automatically removed.
  • If you have not yet applied for financial aid, there is still time to submit the 2020-2021 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) but you must do so immediately. The Office of Student Financial Aid must receive your FAFSA one week prior to the last day of the spring semester in order to be considered for 2020-2021 financial aid. If you have submitted the FAFSA, go to MyUI and Financial Aid and Financial Aid To-Do List to see if anything else is required for aid disbursement.
    • If you have questions about your financial aid, contact the Office of Student Financial Aid by Zoom drop-in, phone, or email.
    • Additional financial advising can be received by scheduling an appointment on MyUI with UI Financial Literacy Services to discuss applying for financial aid, budgeting, and borrowing wisely.
    • If you want to apply $200 of future excess financial aid to apply towards your outstanding balance and have not already agreed to that when you signed the student billing agreement, please email ubill@uiowa.edu with questions about this option.  Future excess aid will not be applied to your balance beyond the $200. 
  • If your past-due balance is below $500 you could fill out the Request Form, detailing how you will pay off any remaining balance. The balance must be paid by May 7, 2021, or your registration could be voided. Email your completed Request Form to registrar-service-center@uiowa.edu.

Completed Request Forms will be reviewed and you will be contacted via your University of Iowa email account with an answer to your request as soon as possible. Remember, you can register for summer or fall 2021 classes until the day before the session begins.
