National Signing Day Tripartite Collaboration Recognition presented to the UI College of Dentistry and the Iowa Dental Association

IDA, UI COD Recognized for 2020 National Signing Day Efforts

The Iowa Dental Association (IDA), in collaboration with the University of Iowa College of Dentistry, was recognized by the American Dental Association (ADA) for the collaborative recruitment efforts toward the graduating class of 2020 to ADA/IDA membership. State associations received this recognition for obtaining National Signing Day applications from at least 80 percent of the class of 2020. Every year IDA hosts a National Signing Day event for the graduating class to welcome them to the profession and organized dentistry. Graduating students receive free ADA/IDA membership for the first year and a half out of dental school. D4 students will learn more about National Signing Day in early 2022.

Name Pronunciation and Pronoun Resources

The COD's Office for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and IT have developed a name pronunciation and pronoun resource for the COD.  We encourage all faculty, staff, students, and residents to enter their information and to review the information of people with whom they interact. This is a great way to help promote a welcoming environment.

How to enter your information:

Make a zoom recording of pronouncing your name and upload it here for faculty/staff/residents and here for students.

Step by step directions on how to make and upload a zoom recording can be found on the Intradent.

Where to view the submitted information:

View the submitted information about COD faculty, staff, students, and residents on the Intradent.

Questions:

Contact the Dentistry Helpdesk (dentistry-helpdesk@uiowa.edu or 335-7592) if you have any problems recording your information, need to borrow recording equipment, or have other technological issues.

Casual for a Cause

Support the 2011 Fund and the Jenifer Wolfe Memorial

Starting Friday, September 17, through the end of the football season on November 26, Clinic Admin invites staff and students to wear jeans each Friday in return for a $5 per month donation. The funds raised will be split between the 2011 Fund and the Jenifer Wolfe Memorial.

The 2011 Fund is an account that’s used to subsidize the cost of patient treatment that assists our predoctoral students to gain/complete required experiences. The memorial fund was established in honor of Dr. Jen Wolfe of Altoona, a member of the Class of 2001 and former pediatric dentistry resident, who died by suicide on June 20, 2020.

To donate, bring a $5 donation per month (during the Hawkeye Football Season) to Michelle Hermann, in Clinic Administration W440. Additional donations to the memorial fund can be made on the memorial website. The Jenifer Wolfe Memorial Fund is almost half way ($49,000) to our $100,000 goal. Any donation helps!
