Important Notes

Attendance Requirement

The University of Iowa collects attendance data to comply with federal financial aid regulations and monitor students' academic progress. Although attendance tracking is not required for accreditation, it ensures students receive necessary financial support and helps us identify and assist those who may need additional academic resources. Your cooperation in submitting attendance data is crucial. Learn more about institutional eligibility under the Higher Education Act of 1965.

A Note from the Office of Student Financial Aid

If a student is reported as not attending a course, their financial aid may be reduced or canceled. It is therefore important that if a student participates in any academic engagement, they should be reported as attending even if this doesn't meet the course expectations. If instructors initially report a student as not attending in error, the instructor can email osfa-attendance@uiowa.edu to certify the attendance for the student for financial aid purposes.
