A new era of user experience: Turnitin’s upgraded similarity report

Turnitin has launched a new version of its Similarity Report. This upgrade is designed to provide an enhanced user experience with an intuitive interface and improved support for assistive technologies. With this new update, it will be easier for faculty and students to interpret results and strengthen academic writing skills.

Introduction to generative AI

Join us for an introduction to generative AI on Tuesday, Aug. 27, from 10 to 11 a.m. We'll identify current capabilities, ethical use cases, and the privacy considerations associated with generative AI systems. We'll also introduce strategies for effective prompting and offer additional resources to continue learning about AI applications.

Registration open for ICON Day 2024

Join us for ICON Day on Friday, Nov. 1, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Iowa Memorial Union Black Box Theater. Our keynote speaker is Kate McDowell, an associate professor at the School of Information Sciences at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She'll offer guidance for teaching data storytelling and promoting data literacy across a broad range of fields, from the humanities to the sciences. Stay for an afternoon of workshops about troubleshooting data storytelling for teaching and learning, enhancing accessibility in ICON courses, and quick steps for increasing engagement using Top Hat.

Navigating the new Turnitin external tool function in ICON

There has been an update to the Turnitin external tool function in ICON. This change may affect your course assignments, particularly those using Turnitin from previous semesters that have been copied into fall 2024 courses, new assignments, and Blueprint courses. All new assignments that use Turnitin as an external tool will need to be set up using the updated version.

Moving to Gradescope Bubble Sheets

Digital Desk, the previous solution for Scantron bubble sheets, has been decommissioned, and the Exam Scoring service replaced with Gradescope Bubble Sheets. Instructors can continue to use the Copy Center to pick up Gradescope Bubble Sheets templates and scan completed exams.
