In partnership with Campus Safety, the Office of the Registrar, Facilities Management, and Security Engineering Services, a pilot for fall 2025 standard building hours for buildings with university classrooms (UCRs) is being implemented. Building hour standardization contributes to student safety, efficiency, and campus energy savings. There are two options to choose from based on historical usage patterns and represent the standard times during which the facility will be open to the general public. Any request other than one of the two options will require justification.

There will be no change in the after-hours access. Faculty, staff, and student may continue to access the buildings outside these operational hours using their current Iowa One Cards, provided their cards are already programmed for after-hours access. No changes or additional permissions are being coordinated in this access plan. Temporary adjustments can be made at any time during the semester by submitting the Building Hours Workflow Form.

Please complete the Building Hours Workflow form no later than Friday, Aug. 1, 2025. Thank you for your cooperation and support in making this transition smooth and successful. Building Coordinators should communicate the fall operational hours to their occupants.
