Call for Medical Education Council (MEC) Nominations
The Carver College of Medicine (CCOM) is accepting nominations for faculty representatives to serve on the Medical Education Council (MEC). The MEC is the executive body responsible for the design, implementation and evaluation of our medical education curriculum and its membership includes ten elected faculty representatives from any department, but no more than one from any given department.
- Five faculty representative positions are presently open.
- Nominations cannot be accepted from departments currently represented on the MEC: Anatomy, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Ophthalmology.
- Nominees should have a strong understanding of the CCOM curriculum and experience teaching medical students in the preclinical and/or clinical curriculum.
- Nominees/representatives cannot hold the position of course or clerkship director at the same time they serve on the MEC.
- The term for faculty representatives is three years and renewable one time at the discretion of the MEC.
- The MEC typically meets twice monthly, in-person, on Wednesdays from 12:00pm-1:30pm.
Interested faculty members may submit a self-nomination, or nomination from their DEO or department Vice Chair of Education, to the Senior Associate Dean for Medical Education and MEC Chair, Dr. Christopher Cooper by Monday, January 27th. They must include a current CV and a cover letter describing their interest, teaching experience and availability to attend meetings.
