Do you like cupcakes? Have you completed your Post JD employment survey (3L’s) or reported your summer job (1L, 2L) in 12Twenty? If so, please stop by the Career Services Office’s table in the lobby on Tuesday, April 8th to receive your Molly’s Cupcake! We will have cupcakes available first-come-first-served for students who have reported their Post JD or summer job to us!
If you have not yet completed your Post JD survey or reported your summer job in 12Twenty, there is still time! You may do so any time before stopping at the table to get your cupcake! When you login to 12Twenty you should receive a pop-up inquiring about your employment, but you can also report your employment under the “Jobs and Job Offers” tile on your home page, then select the appropriate reporting status. For post-graduate clerkships – please report your position as “judicial clerkship” rather than “accepted job” when presented the option.
Please note – even if you have not yet secured employment, you should still report your post-graduate or summer-employment status.

2025 Loyola Patent Law Interview Program
The Loyola Patent Law Interview Program is a two-day interview program held each year that brings together patent law employers and law students from across the country to interview for summer associate positions and post-graduate employment. There is a non-refundable registration fee of $50 per student. Please stress to your students the importance of registering by the deadline as we will not be able to accept any late student registrations. Every year we hear from disappointed students who miss the deadline. We ask for your help in publicizing this opportunity early and often!
Online student registration will begin on March 15 and end on April 14 at 11:59 p.m. CST. The program will be held virtually and take place on Thursday & Friday, June 5 and 6.

Delaware Diversity Job Fair
The 34th Annual Delaware Diversity Job Fair (DDJF) to be held VIRTUALLY on Friday, May 16, 2025. The DDJF was founded by a consortium of Delaware law firm, corporate, and public sector/interest legal employers committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the Delaware bar by encouraging interested law students to explore career opportunities in Delaware.
DDJF invites rising 2L/3LED (2027) and rising 3L/4LED (2026) students interested in 2026 2L Summer Associate or full-time positions with law firms, government, public sector and public interest employers in Delaware to apply. Similar to your school’s OCI format, students may apply to one, some or all of our participating legal employers.
Virtual interviews, hosted via FloRecruit, will take place between 10:00 am (ET) and 1:30 pm (ET) on May 16, 2025. Pre-selected students will receive an invitation to interview with one or more legal employers through the DDJF in April and be asked to accept or decline by May 1. Additional information about the DDJF, including confirmed interview timing and virtual access details, will be provided to participating students in early May. The application deadline is Friday, April 10, 2025.

Helix Bar Review Updates
The July 2025 Helix UBE, Helix California, and Helix Florida courses opened on March 10, giving bar studiers 20 full weeks of access ahead of the exam. As you begin to think about taking your bar exam, now is the time to enroll in Helix.
- Students who are enrolled in a Helix comprehensive course or Helix MBE supplement can take advantage of our Pass Classes throughout the spring. These are available live and on-demand. During each three-hour session, students will receive an overview of a particular bar exam component, strategies for attacking the material, and practice opportunities.

Law360 Summer Associate Survey
You likely received an email from Law360 asking you to complete a survey about your experience during the recruiting process. Iowa Law knows how many requests you receive for surveys. This survey is important, especially right now, given the earlier and earlier recruiting timelines. If you can find the time, we do feel it will provide valuable insight from you, the students, the ones impacted the most by these new timelines. Cmiel and Weston funding for summer internships
The UI Center for Human Rights offers two sources of funding to support law students engaged in rights-related summer ex/internships. The Weston ($2500 single recipient) and Cmiel (multiple awards) programs support travel, housing, and incidentals. Informational sessions will be held on March 27 & April 2 (3:00-3:30 pm) via Zoom. Registration for the info sessions, funding eligibility, and application requirements may be found here. The application deadline is April 18, 2025 (5:00 pm CST).

Georgia Intellectual Property Alliance Job Portal
The Georgia Intellectual Property Alliance (“GIPA”) has launched a new IP Career Portal to help law students, PhD students, science-based students, and IP associates find new positions in the intellectual property practice.Building on our success with the Southeastern Intellectual Property Job Fair, GIPA seeks to leverage our network of employers and higher education contacts to create a job board and portal that facilitates easy lateral movement among attorneys and patent agents.

Arizona Handbook
The Government Honors & Internship Handbook (for law students and graduates) and the Public Policy Handbook (for graduate and undergraduate students interested in public policy analysis and implementation) have been in publication since 2001 and 2005. The Handbooks provide students and graduates with resources to 475+ government agencies, think tanks, and advocacy groups, offering nearly 2,000 intern, fellowship, and post-graduate positions each year.
Each opportunity is set forth in a detailed Handbook entry, describing the employer’s mission and organizational structure, position description, desired applicant qualifications, deadlines and the application and selection process.

Public Defender Mentorship Program
The Iowa State Public Defender will offer a Monday Mentors program beginning at 4:30 p.m. until 5:30 or later if warranted. It will take place every Monday thereafter at the same time and via the same zoom link provided below. The idea is to provide a time for young public defenders, contract attorneys, and aspiring law students to ask questions whether related to a specific case, criminal defense in general, or career questions, and obtain feedback and guidance from others similarly situated and from defense attorneys with years of experience. Breakout rooms will be provided as needed to facilitate communication. We hope you take advantage of this program. If you are interested in public defense, and cannot make the Monday meetings, please reach out to Kimberly DePalma at kdepalma@spd.state.ia.us.
