We all hope you are enjoying your winter break and taking sometime to unplug from law school and reconnect with family and friends. As you take your much needed break, please do not forget Melissa Norman's "6 Things to Do Over Winter Break".
1. Schedule a meeting with your Career Advisor.
2. Have the CSO review your resume and cover letter before applying to jobs.
3. Research Spring OCI employers and other employers that you find independently.
4. Apply to anything that looks interesting – keep track and follow up!

Wisconsin 1L Student Reception
Four law firms in Milwaukee are host a "Home for the Holidays" reception for 1L students who may be interested in practicing in Wisconsin post-graduation. This is a great opportunity for students to visit some of the top law firms in Milwaukee and network with attorneys in the area. Participating law firms include: Godfre & Kahn, Husch Black, Quarles & Brady, and Reinhart.

Home for the Holidays Reception - Haynes and Boone, LLP - Charlotte, NC
Haynes and Boone, LLP cordially invites you to attend our 1L receptions while you are home for the holidays! We will be hosting one reception in our Charlotte office on the date and times listed below.
They kindly ask you to RSVP via the registration link in the attached invitation at least 3 days prior to the reception date. We will be recruiting for these programs at each of our receptions. If you have not done so already, we encourage you to apply online as soon as you are eligible (be sure to reference your law school’s guidelines). You will be able to update your application with a transcript at a later date.

- If you are unable to attend the receptions, rest assured that this will not negatively impact your application or consideration for our 1L programs.
- We are also hosting home for the holidays receptions in a few of our other offices.

Arizona Handbook

Public Defender Mentorship Program
The Iowa State Public Defender will offer a Monday Mentors program beginning at 4:30 p.m. until 5:30 or later if warranted. It will take place every Monday thereafter at the same time and via the same zoom link provided below. The idea is to provide a time for young public defenders, contract attorneys, and aspiring law students to ask questions whether related to a specific case, criminal defense in general, or career questions, and obtain feedback and guidance from others similarly situated and from defense attorneys with years of experience. Breakout rooms will be provided as needed to facilitate communication. We hope you take advantage of this program. If you are interested in public defense, and cannot make the Monday meetings, please reach out to Kimberly DePalma at kdepalma@spd.state.ia.us.
