**Reminder** June Recruitment Preview (JRP) Now Open
The June Recruitment Program (JRP) is now open to students. Students may bid on up to five employers participating in JRP. This session of recruitment will be 100% employer-selected and once employers receive their application packets, they can immediately schedule interviews directly with students. If you see an employer is participating in both JRP and OCI Resume Collect, apply to both as you are only allowed to bid on five employers participating in JRP. Please note, that all interviews with students through the JRP will be scheduled by the employer and not through the career services office.
- Important Dates:
- May 28th-June 8th - Preview period. Students can view participating employers. No bidding will take place during these days.
- June 8th-June 14th - Student bidding period. Students may bid on up to 5 employers.
- June 14th - Employers receive applicant packets and may begin scheduling interviews directly with students.
- July 12th - Offers must be made to students by this date.
- July 18th - Students must notify employers of their decision.
As you are thinking about your job search this summer, we encourage you to take advantage of ALL resources available to you! While OCI is a great resource, it is not meant to be your ONLY resource. We encourage you to participate in job fairs and to direct apply to employers in which you are interested. You can and should apply NOW (and supplement your application materials after you get your grades) to many large firms through their individual application portals – even if they are participating in OCI! If you have questions about application strategy or timing, please reach out your career advisor.
Up-Coming Summer Recruitment at Iowa Law
- July Virtual Interviewing - July Virtual Interviewing is comprised of preselect and Ranked Interest Selection candidates. Employers may pre-select 50% of the students they interview. The remaining 50% of the schedule is filled by ranked interest selection: students who applied to interview and are highly interested in the employer. Virtual interviews will be scheduled by the Career Services Office.
- Important Dates:
- May 28th-June 21st - Student bidding period.
- July 9th-July 11th – Student interview accept/decline period
- July 16th – Schedules to employers and students
- July 23rd-26th –Virtual Interviews
- Resume Collect – Employers will collect resumes of interested candidates and will schedule interviews directly with candidates on whatever timeline the employer prefers.

Acing Your Interviews
Rising 2Ls, please join Career Services for an interactive workshop on (X Date) to learn the fundamentals of interview prep and to workshop your answer to one of the most common questions you are likely to face. Start preparing now for law firm pre-recruiting interviews, OCI interviews, or any job interview at all! This is the second workshop in a series to lead into this year’s Summer Recruitment Season.

This will be the first workshop in a series to lead into this year’s Summer Recruitment Season.

Public Defender Mentorship Program
The Iowa State Public Defender will offer a Monday Mentors program beginning at 4:30 p.m. until 5:30 or later if warranted. It will take place every Monday thereafter at the same time and via the same zoom link provided below. The idea is to provide a time for young public defenders, contract attorneys, and aspiring law students to ask questions whether related to a specific case, criminal defense in general, or career questions, and obtain feedback and guidance from others similarly situated and from defense attorneys with years of experience. Breakout rooms will be provided as needed to facilitate communication. We hope you take advantage of this program. If you are interested in public defense, and cannot make the Monday meetings, please reach out to Kimberly DePalma at kdepalma@spd.state.ia.us.
