Though we have received no official notification from SciENcv or NIH, we understand from research administration listservs that SciENcv updated the certificate used to electronically sign/certify Biographical Sketches and Current & Pending (Other) Support documents.
The old certificate expires on Saturday, September 26, 2026. After September 26, 2026, documents signed with the old certificate will not validate in eRA Commons, and will receive an error.
The image below demonstrates how you can check your documents after opening them in Adobe Acrobat. You want to see ‘Valid to: 2027/03/14’ for a successful submission after September 26, 2026.

If we receive formal notifications or instructions from SciENcv or NIH, we will forward them to campus.
Prior to routing an NIH application to DSP in Cayuse, applicants are reminded to validate the proposal using both the NIH Validation and the traditional Validate Proposal functions under the Electronic Submission tab in Cayuse.
