This message is intended for all campus contacts who receive program of study (POS) memo updates via email from the Office of the Registrar.
At the request of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and with approval from the Office of the Provost, the Magid Center for Writing department and Iowa Young Writers' subdepartment will close, effective January 1, 2026. To coincide with this update, the Certificates in Writing and the WRIT course subject will move to the School of Journalism and Mass Communication (SJMC), effective spring 2026. Existing students should be moved to, and future students should declare, the programs of study belonging to SJMC.
