You are receiving this message because our records indicate that you serve as an advisor for one or more students who have completed a degree application for summer or fall 2024 and the student has not yet RSVP'd for commencement.
The UI Commencement Team is reaching out to advisors to ensure you all have comprehensive information to provide to your students regarding the commencement RSVP process. In addition, we are asking for your help to remind fall 2024 degree applicants to watch their university email for messages from our team about how to RSVP.
About the Commencement RSVP
The commencement RSVP* is an opt-in system and only students who RSVP as "I plan to participate" by the deadline of Sunday, November 17 at 11:59 p.m. will have their names read and displayed during the ceremony broadcast. By submitting an RSVP, students will also continue to receive important information from our team with regalia ordering instructions, ceremony details, and more. If a student is not planning to attend, they are encouraged to select "I do not plan to participate in this ceremony" in the RSVP.
The RSVP portal is located in MyUI within the Degrees/Graduation tile by clicking on commencement attendance. Students will receive a confirmation email to their university email account once their RSVP has been finalized.
*If you work with students who may be eligible to graduate and are interested in participating in commencement, please remind them that they must complete a degree application before they are eligible to RSVP.
MAUI Commencement Panel
Advisor view-only access to your student’s commencement RSVP in MyUI has been enabled. This is for viewing purposes only and we kindly ask that you do not make any changes. Students should use MyUI to RSVP for themselves or to make updates to their RSVP status. More MAUI RSVP information and best practices can be found on the MAUI Help website.
Additional Information
Additional MyUI RSVP information for students is available on the commencement website.
Attending commencement is optional but it is helpful for us to have an accurate count of those students who are attending and those who are not. Degrees and diplomas are not distributed at commencements, therefore not attending commencement does not impact a student's ability to receive their degree.
If your student advisee is planning on participating in a commencement ceremony it is recommended to browse the Graduation Checklist with tips on transitioning to alumni status. We encourage you to review the checklist with your student advisees before graduation.
Please contact the UI Commencement Team if you have any questions.
