| Remind Your Advisees to RSVP for their Commencement Ceremony | Our records show that one or more of your advisees have applied for a summer or fall 2025 degree but have not yet submitted their commencement RSVP.
The UI Commencement Team is reaching out so you have accurate information to share with your students. | | | Commencement RSVP Information | The fall 2025 commencement RSVP closes on Sunday, Nov. 9.
- The RSVP becomes available in MyUI only after students complete their degree application.
- Students earning degrees from different colleges can choose to attend one ceremony, both ceremonies, or indicate that they do not plan to attend either.
- Students must RSVP in MyUI to participate.
- Only students that select “I plan to participate” and attend their ceremony will have their names read and displayed during the livestream.
- Students not attending should select “I do not plan to participate” to stop receiving reminders.
- A confirmation message will be sent to the student’s university email once their RSVP is finalized.
- Important updates will be sent to their university email account.
*Students graduating in the fall whose college does not host a fall ceremony are invited to their college’s spring ceremony.
Participating Early or Late
- Some students may request to participate early (before completing all requirements) or late (after their degree is conferred).
- Eligibility depends on each college’s policies.
- If one of your advisees would like to participate early or late, please have them contact their college’s commencement coordinator.
Advisor Access in MAUI
- Advisors can view, but should not edit, their advisees’ RSVP status in the Commencement Panel. Students must make updates to their own RSVP.
- The MAUI Help site provides guidance on the degree application, RSVP process, and accessing the Commencement Panel.
| | | Commencement Program Information | The University of Iowa Commencement Program lists degree candidates by degree type within each college.
- Inclusion in the program does not verify degree completion and is not tied to ceremony participation.
- Students earning degrees in summer and fall appear in the fall program, even if they participate in a spring ceremony.
- Applying for a degree after the application deadline may result in exclusion from the commencement program.
- Students with directory restrictions in MyUI may also be excluded.
Action required: Remind students to review their directory restriction settings in MyUI before Monday, Nov. 17, 2025. | | | Graduation Support Program | The Dean of Students Graduation Support Program provides financial assistance to undergraduate, graduate, and professional students facing financial hardship. This support ensures that all students, regardless of financial circumstances, can take part in commencement ceremonies.
