Additional Deadlines/Reminders

  • If your name, address, or academic information are restricted from directory or public release, your name may not appear in the commencement program. Please check your restriction settings in MyUI before Sunday, Nov. 17, 2024.
  • You can edit your RSVP attendance response in MyUI until the end of the day on Sunday, Nov. 17, 2024.
  • You can add or edit a graduation slide photo until Friday, Dec. 6, 2024. Slides are for personal use and are not used at the in-person ceremonies.

Commencement Program

The University of Iowa Commencement Program is a listing of degree candidates from each college, sorted by degree type. Publishing the names of degree candidates in the program is not a verification of completion of degree requirements. Inclusion in the commencement program is not tied to participation in a ceremony.

  • All graduates are listed in the program according to the time at which they earned or are expected to earn a degree.
    • Summer and fall graduate names appear in the fall program even if the student is participating in a spring ceremony.
  • Applying for a degree after the degree application deadline may result in the exclusion of the student's name from the commencement program, or, if your name, address, or academic information are restricted in MyUI from directory or public release.

Review Your Data Restrictions

To ensure your name is not withheld from the commencement program because of directory restrictions:

  • Visit the Student Data Restriction page in MyUI and check your responses to the following questions.
    • Do you want to remove your name and address information from the university directory? Select No.
    • Do you want to prohibit public release of academic information (major, college, class, degrees received, dates of attendance, and full/part-time status)? Select No.
  • If one or both of your answers to the questions above are marked as Yes, your name will not appear in the program.
  • Your selection in the “section of information to restrict from public release” will not impact whether your name will appear in the program.

If you have additional questions about the commencement program or would like to request that your name not be included, please contact us via your university email account.

Commemorative Slides

You can download a branded University of Iowa graduation slide from the RSVP portal in MyUI to share with family and friends. The commemorative slide is for personal use only; the slide will not be displayed during the ceremony or broadcast in the livestream.
