| Fall 2025 Commencement Information | You are receiving this message because you have submitted an RSVP for a fall 2025 commencement ceremony. We are excited to celebrate you!
Below are the most important details to help you prepare. For ceremony-specific information, visit the List of Fall Ceremonies, select your ceremony, and review the Additional Info for Graduates and Guests section. | | Tickets and Guest Seating
- Tickets are NOT required.
- Guest seating is NOT limited for any fall 2025 ceremony, and seating is not assigned.
| | | Ceremony Venues and Entry | Venues
Doors open: One hour prior to your ceremony start time.
Carver-Hawkeye Arena
- Graduate Express Entry: East doors (recommended).
- Guest Entry: South and West doors (you may enter through these doors with your guests if you choose).
- Walk-through metal detectors will be in use.
- Clear bag policy is enforced.
- Not allowed: Purses, backpacks, large bags, cinched bags, banners/signs, wrapped gifts, balloons, outside food/beverages, air horns, or alcohol. Review the complete list of prohibited items.
- Maps, directions, parking, and accessibility information are available on the Carver venue page.
Hancher Auditorium
- Security, parking, and accessibility policies apply.
- It is recommended not to bring in a bag that cannot fit easily under your seat. There is no bag or coat check during commencement ceremonies.
- Please do not bring in balloons, banners, signs, or vases with water and flowers.
- Venue-specific details are available on the Hancher venue page.
| | | Regalia |
- Regalia is required for all graduates.
- It is currently available for purchase or rent at the Iowa Hawk Shop and University Bookstore (IMU).
- Bring your regalia with you because it will not be available for purchase or rent at your ceremony.
Tassels
- Each college has a specific tassel color.
- Undergraduate: Start on the right, move to the left during the ceremony.
- Graduate/Professional: Start on the left.

- Pick up your printed name card upon arrival.
- Card includes:
- Your name for announcement
- HawkID
- Contact information for your free photo proof
- If pronunciation is missing, please write it on your card.
- Review your card for accuracy including:
- Name Pronunciation
- Contact information
- Honors/distinction
- If anything is incorrect or missing, notify a volunteer.
- If your contact information is missing, you may be asked to complete the back of the card to receive your photo proof.
- You will hand your card to the name card scanner before crossing the stage.

- Program inclusion is not tied to ceremony participation.
- Lists degree candidates by college and degree type.
- Summer and fall graduates appear in the fall program, even if attending a spring ceremony.
- Printed programs are only available for graduates.
- A digital program is available on the commencement website.
