The Commencement RSVP Portal is Open
Our records indicate that you have a summer 2023 or fall 2023 degree application on file.
Planning on participating in a fall 2023 commencement ceremony? The RSVP portal in MyUI is now open!
The RSVP process is an opt-in system. Only students who RSVP as "I plan to participate" by the deadline and attend the ceremony will have their names read and displayed during the ceremony broadcast.
The RSVP portal is located in MyUI within the Degrees/Graduation tile by clicking on commencement attendance. You will receive a confirmation email to your university email account once your RSVP has been finalized.

- Commencement information: Comprehensive commencement information is available on the UI Commencement website.
- Receive updates: You will receive commencement updates in your university email. Please encourage your guests to sign up for the fall 2023 commencement subscription list to receive information.
- Ceremony details: Visit the commencement ceremonies page and find your college for important information about your ceremony.
- Apparel (cap and gown): Apparel information will be coming to your university email in October. Apparel should be purchased or rented in advance, as it will not be available at the ceremonies. Additional details will be added to the apparel page on our website when they become available.
Deadlines/Reminders
- If your name, address, or academic information are restricted from directory or public release, your name may not appear in the commencement program. Please check your restriction settings in MyUI before Sunday, Nov. 5, 2023.
- You can edit your RSVP attendance response in MyUI until the end of the day on Sunday, Nov. 12, 2023.
- You can add or edit a commencement slide photo until Sunday, Dec. 3, 2023. Slides are for personal use and are not used at the in-person ceremonies.
Commencement Program
The University of Iowa Commencement Program is a listing of degree candidates from each college, sorted by degree type. Publishing names of degree candidates in the program booklet is not a verification of completion of degree requirements. Inclusion in the commencement program is not tied to participation in a ceremony.
- All graduates are listed in the program according to the time at which they earned or are expected to earn a degree.
- Summer and fall graduate names appear in the fall program even if the student is participating in a spring ceremony.
- Applying for a degree after the degree application deadline may result in exclusion of the student's name from the commencement program.
- If your name, address, or academic information are restricted from directory or public release, your name may not appear in the commencement program.
