Planning on participating in a fall 2023 commencement ceremony? The RSVP deadline in MyUI has been extended!
The RSVP deadline for fall 2023 has been extended to 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2023. The RSVP process at Iowa is an opt-in system. Please respond “I plan to participate” before the deadline if you plan to attend a ceremony. The RSVP portal is located in MyUI.
If you are not planning to attend your ceremony and no longer wish to receive RSVP reminders, please indicate "I do not plan to participate" in MyUI. We highly encourage all recipients of this email to RSVP in MyUI as attending or not attending to help allocate appropriate ceremony resources.
The RSVP process is an opt-in system. Only students who RSVP as "I plan to participate" by the deadline and attend the ceremony will have their names read and displayed during the ceremony broadcast.

Apparel Ordering Info and Deadlines
Commencement apparel should be purchased or rented in advance, as it will not be available at the ceremonies. Additional details are available on the apparel page on the commencement website.
- Undergraduate students will purchase and keep the University of Iowa bachelor’s gown, tassel, and mortar board using the Herff Jones online ordering portal. The deadline for ordering regalia to be shipped to your home is Monday, Nov. 13. If you miss this ordering deadline, regalia will be available for purchase at the Iowa Hawk Shop and University Bookstore from Dec. 4–14, but sizes and tassel colors are not guaranteed to be available. A late fee of $20 will be applied to these purchases.
- Graduate College students participating in the fall 2023 commencement ceremony will rent the University of Iowa master's or doctoral gown using the Herff Jones online ordering portal. The rental deadline for Graduate College commencement regalia is Wednesday, Nov. 15 at 10:59 p.m. CST.
Additional Deadlines/Reminders
- You can add or edit a commencement slide photo until Sunday, Dec. 3, 2023. Slides are for personal use and are not used at the in-person ceremonies.
Commencement Program
The University of Iowa Commencement Program is a listing of degree candidates from each college, sorted by degree type. Publishing names of degree candidates in the program booklet is not a verification of completion of degree requirements. Inclusion in the commencement program is not tied to participation in a ceremony.
- All graduates are listed in the program according to the time at which they earned or are expected to earn a degree.
- Summer and fall graduate names appear in the fall program even if the student is participating in a spring ceremony.
- Applying for a degree after the degree application deadline may result in exclusion of the student's name from the commencement program.
- If your name, address, or academic information are restricted in MyUI from directory or public release, your name may not appear in the commencement program.
