Commencement Week Checklist
- Get your regalia. All regalia must be in hand prior to your commencement ceremony. Regalia will not be available to purchase or rent at the ceremonies. Additional information is available on the apparel page of the commencement website.
- Confirm your ceremony date, time, and location.
- Check your ceremony venue page, Carver-Hawkeye Arena or Hancher Auditorium, for information on location, parking, prohibited items, venue entrances, and more. Please note: Carver ceremonies adhere to this bag policy.
- Allow extra time for travel and parking.
- Traffic congestion around the venues is expected. There is major construction at the Coralville First Avenue and I-80 Interchange.
- Complimentary parking is available for all ceremonies.
- Doors open for graduates and guests one hour prior to the start of each ceremony. Graduates should arrive at least 30 minutes prior to their ceremony start time unless otherwise instructed by their college.
- The Iowa MBA ceremony is the only ceremony requiring tickets this spring with doors opening one hour, 15 minutes prior to the ceremony. Iowa MBA graduates received additional information via their university email.
- A printed commencement program will be available for you at your ceremony. Programs will also be available for download on the commencement website.
- Flash Photography photographs each graduate during the ceremonies. Proofs will be sent to the email and mailing addresses listed on your commencement name card. Expect receipt of these free, no obligation to buy proofs within 14 days of the ceremony’s conclusion.

Pictures on the Pentacrest
- Thursday, May 9 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Medical Campus Courtyard
- Friday, May 10 from 2 to 5 p.m. on the Pentacrest
- Saturday, May 11 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Pentacrest
Graduating students are invited to stop by the UI Center for Advancement tent for fun alumni giveaways, free cookies, and complimentary professional photos taken with the Graduation Herky statue and in front of the Old Capitol.
These events are weather permitting and there is no indoor alternative. | |
