2024 Summer Course Reserves

2024 Summer Course Reserves

Greetings,

I am currently working on health science course reserves for the Summer 2024 semester. If you have any materials you would like to have placed on course reserve, please submit an online “Hardin Library – Place Items on Reserve” form at
http://www.lib.uiowa.edu/hardin/hardin_reserve.

You can also send me an email directly at lisa-carrasco@uiowa.edu. Please list your course number and the specific materials you would like us to place on reserve for your course.

There is a new, alternative way of creating course reserves. If you are interested, UI Libraries recently adopted a new course reserves software integrated into ICON. The tool, called Course Materials+ (CM+), organizes library resources into easy-to-use course reading lists that can include electronic articles, streaming media, digitized content, and physical materials into a single list so that students can access all their course materials in ICON. Instructors also have greater control over the display and organization of content in their reading lists and can build and update lists during the semester. In ICON, you can find CM+ from Courses > Settings > Navigation > then select CM+ and save. You can find help on the Ex Libris LibGuide, on YouTube, or by contacting me by phone at (319) 467-1414 or by email at lisa-carrasco@uiowa.edu.

Our experience is that electronic books are more convenient for most students. Unless you instruct us otherwise, we will try to purchase an electronic version of any book you may need. However, there may not be an e-book available for libraries to obtain; in some cases, the available e-book may allow only one user to use it at a time. If there is no suitable e-book version available for libraries, we will try to purchase a print copy of the book.

If you have any questions, you may wish to scan our list of reserve guidelines or by email at lisa-carrasco@uiowa.edu.

Thank you,

Lisa Carrasco
