Volunteer for Spring 2025 Commencement

We are looking for enthusiastic members of the Enrollment Management division to assist with the spring 2025 College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) and University College commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 17, 2025. Volunteering at these events is a great way to celebrate the accomplishments of our graduating students. 

To sign up, please complete and submit the form below by Friday, April 11, 2025. We will close the form early if volunteer spots are full.

You should receive a confirmation message with your assigned ceremony and task details the last week of April.

CLAS Ceremony Information

Carver-Hawkeye Arena–Saturday, May 17, 2025

Morning Ceremony

  • Celebrates College of Liberal Arts and Sciences graduates
  • Volunteer time commitment: 7:40 a.m.–9:20 a.m. (8 a.m. to end of ceremony for Marshals)

Afternoon Ceremony

  • Celebrates College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and University College graduates
  • Volunteer time commitment: 11:40 a.m.–1:20 p.m. (12 p.m. to end of ceremony for Marshals)

Volunteer Tasks

Concourse Level (Graduate/Guest Entry)

  • Wayfinder: Assist guests and graduates with venue information and directions to seating areas. 

Floor Level (Graduate Seating)

  • Card Hand-Out: Help graduates find or complete their name cards.
  • Honors & Distinction: Assist graduates with questions about honors and distinction.
  • Marshal: Guide students during the presentation of the graduates part of the ceremony.
  • Usher: Direct graduates to their designated seating areas.

Between Ceremonies (Time Commitment: 10:30 a.m.–12 p.m.)

  • Name Card Organization: Assist with organizing name cards at card hand-out tables.
  • Seating Area Reset: Assist with clean up and resetting of the graduate seating area.

Training 

Training sessions will be held via Zoom the week of commencement. More information will be provided closer to the meeting dates. Additional brief training will also be available on-site prior to the ceremony as needed.
