Automatic eRA Commons notifications

Earlier this month, NIH issued notice NOT-OD-26-004, detailing limits on administrative support services during the federal government shutdown. While eRA systems (used by NIH and other agency partners) continue to be operational for proposal submission, eRA Commons is not generating automatic emails for functions such as RPPR routing, no cost extensions, and humans subjects enrollment updates.  Therefore, please notify nih@uiowa.edu if you have routed a progress report, human subjects enrollment update or other information for DSP review and submission in the eRA Commons.

The eRA service desk will not be operational during the shutdown. If applicants encounter system issues when applying, they should submit an eRA service desk ticket to document the issue. NIH has indicated they will take this documentation into consideration for accepting late applications when operations resume.

Please refer to the federal updates page for the latest information about the shutdown and how it affects federally funded research at UI.

NIH Validations Service in Cayuse

Cayuse now includes a specialized validation feature called NIH Validations. This option sends your proposal data directly to the NIH validation system, where it is checked for errors. Any errors or warnings identified are then displayed for your review.

To utilize this feature, simply click on the Validate Proposal with NIH box on the Electronic Submission page:

Prior to routing an NIH application to DSP in Cayuse, users are encouraged to validate the proposal using both the new NIH Validation and the traditional Validate Proposal functions. If you have questions, please contact nih@uiowa.edu.
