Fall 2021 RSVP Deadline

The RSVP deadline is nearly upon us! So far we've had over 900 students RSVP for fall 2021 ceremonies.

The RSVP for fall 2021 commencement ceremonies will close at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, November 21, 2021. If you've got a graduate home this weekend, now is the time to check and see if they submitted their RSVP response. We are unable to provide RSVP response information to friends and family members.

The RSVP is an Opt-In system, so students should respond “Attending” before the deadline if they plan to participate in a ceremony. If you know someone who is planning (or not planning) to participate in the fall 2021 ceremonies, we encourage them to RSVP either "Attending" or "Not Attending" by the deadline.

The commencement email box is monitored Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. If a student encounters an issue submitting their RSVP after 4:30 p.m. on Friday, or if they have other questions, we cannot guarantee their message will be viewed on the weekend prior to the registration deadline. We've encouraged them to submit their response before the end of the business day on Friday, November 19.

 

Commemorative Slides

Students can download a branded University of Iowa graduation slide from the RSVP portal in MyUI to share with family and friends. The commemorative slide is for graduate's use only; the slide will not be displayed during the ceremony or broadcast in the livestream. Students must upload a photo by the RSVP deadline if they wish to include a picture on their slide.

Graduation Support Program

The Dean of Students (DOS) Graduation Support Program provides financial assistance for graduation apparel and materials to students experiencing a financial hardship and unable to afford to participate in graduation ceremonies at the University of Iowa. The program will provide funding for eligible students – undergraduate and professional – for the costs of graduation apparel and materials through the Iowa Hawk Shop.

Eligible graduate and professional students choosing to rent their graduation apparel through the UI Herff Jones site will also be able to apply for the cost of the grad package apparel rental fee.
