I serve as the Associate Director for Academic and Leadership Programs. In this position, I manage the curriculum and support instructors for sections of Career Leadership Academy (CLA) Part 1, CLA Part 2, and Introduction to Leadership. Right now I’m helping to prepare a 6-week version of CLA Part 1 and Part 2. We’ll offer these sections online in the summer; it is a great option to complete both classes in one summer! We get great feedback on CLA; students tell us they appreciate the small class sizes and applicable content. Outside of work, I live in Iowa City with my husband, children, and dog Kinnick. I enjoy volunteering, reading, and baking. |

Name: Drew Jauron
Year: Senior
Major:
Management, and LS certificate, certificates in sustainability, writing, and minor in international studies
Involvement:
Iowa Cheerleader, Student Athlete-advisory committee, Vice President of Paws at Iowa, Frank Communications Center Tutor, TRIO SSS tutor, pre-PhD in the Management Department, research assistant | How has being a LS certificate student helped you grow as a student and/or personally?
Having the structure to think intentionally about my leadership and the leadership I see in my activities has been helpful, especially as I take the next step when I graduate in the spring. I especially enjoyed learning about different perspectives towards leadership, how it is a valuable skill regardless of career field, and how the influence leadership has on performance. Taking the leadership studies capstone during my summer internship was transformative for me in that it helped me think about the organizational behavior and work structures I was a part of, and how they could be improved. This has led me to the aspiration to pursue a PhD in Management & Organizational Behavior to study these phenomena more thoroughly.
What is your favorite LS class you’ve taken?
The President's Leadership Class (PLC) is one of the most influential classes I've taken while at Iowa. During it, I had the chance to meet fellow rising student leaders who have come to shape the rest of my college experience. Through the class, I helped start the Paws at Iowa student organization, which is still active and creating good on campus, which would not have happened without PLC. PLC was also incredibly influential in my desire to stay in academia and to pursue leadership opportunities cross-departmentally, through being exposed to the foremost administrative leaders at Iowa.
