NIH has reissued High-Risk, High-Reward Research (HRHR) Program funding opportunities. This prestigious program supports exceptionally innovative, high-impact research that has the potential to transform biomedical science. CDC: Strengthening Global Health Security by improving public health capacity to detect, notify, and respond to disease outbreaks globally

Description: The purpose of this NOFO is to strengthen countries’ capacity to independently detect, notify, and respond to disease threats of international significance. By stopping outbreaks at their source, this NOFO makes Americans safer, stronger, and more prosperous, both at home and abroad.

CDC: Advancing Outbreak Detection, Notification, and Response Capacity by Implementing 7-1-7 in Partner Countries

Description: This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) supports strengthening country systems to detect, notify, and respond to outbreaks by applying time-bound, evidence-based frameworks, such as the 7-1-7 target, which aims to detect outbreaks within 7 days, notify within 1 day, and respond within 7 days.

CDC: Sustaining Global Health Security to protect and improve public health in Kenya

Description: For 45 years, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has partnered with the Government of Kenya (GoK) to protect the health of the Kenyan people and strengthen their health systems. The U.S. Government (USG) remains the largest investor in Kenya’s health sector. This investment includes PEPFAR (President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief), Global Health Security (GHS), Malaria, Tuberculosis (TB), Immunizations, and Influenza. Building on prior CDC-funded activities, this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) supports USG GHS priorities in Kenya by expanding programs to better prevent, detect, and respond to infectious disease threats.

CDC: Strengthening global health security through local partnerships in Uganda

Description: The purpose of this NOFO is to continue expanding Uganda’s capacity to effectively and efficiently respond to health threats. This NOFO focuses on addressing the gaps outlined by the 2023 Joint External Evaluation (JEE) of Uganda’s Global Health Security (GHS) capacities to keep Americans safer, stronger, and more prosperous by improving public health globally. These capacities include Health Emergency Management, Human Resources, National Laboratory Systems, and Surveillance in response to Uganda’s second National Action Plan for Health Security (NAPHS II). Activities focus on strengthening Uganda’s ability to rapidly contain diseases and manage the risk of disease from coming to the U.S. Additional activities under this NOFO include utilizing real-time funding for health emergencies, strengthening the national border health program, strengthening workforce personnel at all levels, and deploying the National Integrated Surveillance System (NISS) to guarantee a One Health approach.

NIH: Modern Equipment for Shared-use Biomedical Research Facilities: Advancing Research-Related Operations (S15 Clinical Trial Not Allowed)

Description: This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) invites eligible academic or research institutions to apply for funding support to purchase latest scientific equipment that will enhance and modernize research-supporting operations of existing shared biomedical research facilities. Targeted are laboratory research core facilities, animal research facilities, and other similar shared-use research spaces.
