Iowa HHS is expected to release several Healthy Hometowns funding opportunities this summer.
Details on eligibility, budgets, application deadlines, and proposal requirements will be available when the official Requests for Proposals are released.

HRSA: Maternal Health Emergency Management Training (MHEMT)

Description: The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) invites applications for the Maternal Health Emergency Management Training (MHEMT) program. This will extend the reach and impact of the AIM program by strengthening the capacity of the broader health care workforce in non-delivery and/or low-resource clinical settings. The primary goal of this program is to increase capacity and improve the quality of care provided by clinicians and first responders who encounter pregnant and postpartum women in non-delivery and/or low-resource clinical settings.

NIH: Director's Early Independence Award (DP5 Clinical Trial Optional)

Description: The NIH Director's Early Independence Award helps talented new researchers begin their own independent research program soon after finishing their doctoral degree or clinical training, without first doing postdoctoral training. The award accepts applications on any topic fitting the NIH mission.
Limitation: two applications per institution

NIH: Seed Instrumentation Support (SIS) Program (S10 Clinical Trial Not Allowed)

Description: The National Institutes of Health (NIH) invites applications for the Seed Instrumentation Support (SIS) Program (S10 Clinical Trial Not Allowed). This aims to build new research capacity and develop a sustainable research program by supporting the purchase of a single commercially available biomedical research instrument currently unavailable in the institution. Instruments funded through this program must be shared among the users to create new research opportunities, enable reproducible data generation, encourage collaborative research and training, and strengthen long-term research capabilities.

NIH: Atopic Dermatitis Research Network (ADRN) (U19 Clinical Trial Optional)

Description: The purpose of this notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) is to solicit applications for the Atopic Dermatitis Research Network (ADRN) program. The ADRN program will support Centers that integrate clinical and translational research to improve our understanding and management of atopic dermatitis with emphasis on chronic skin inflammation and the defense mechanisms of the skin.

Description: The NIH Pathway to Independence Award (K99/R00) helps outstanding postdoctoral researchers complete needed mentored training and transition in a timely manner to independent, tenure-track or equivalent faculty positions. NSF: Scholarships in STEM Network (S-STEM-Net): S-STEM Research Hubs

Description: Through this solicitation, NSF seeks to foster a network of S-STEM stakeholders and further develop the infrastructure needed to generate and disseminate new knowledge, successful practices and effective design principles arising from NSF S-STEM projects nationwide. The ultimate vision of the legislation governing the S-STEM parent program[1] (and of the current S-STEM-Net solicitation) is that all Americans, regardless of economic status, should be able to contribute to the American innovation economy if they so desire.

NIH: Modern Equipment for Shared-use Biomedical Research Facilities: Advancing Research-Related Operations (S15 Clinical Trial Not Allowed)

Description: This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) invites eligible academic or research institutions to apply for funding support to purchase latest scientific equipment that will enhance and modernize research-supporting operations of existing shared biomedical research facilities. Targeted are laboratory research core facilities, animal research facilities, and other similar shared-use research spaces. The goal of this NOFO is to strengthen research-auxiliary activities of biomedical research facilities and to enhance the efficiency of their operations.
