NASA Early Career Faculty Opportunity for Tenure-Track Assistant Professors

The Space Technology Research Grants Program, part of NASA's Space Technology Mission Directorate, is looking for proposals from new faculty members who want to build careers in space technology research. This opportunity is only for projects focused on one of two areas: 1.) Advanced Diagnostics for High-Enthalpy Test Facilities Simulating Spacecraft Atmospheric Entry, or 2.) Planning for Autonomous Spacecraft Using Machine Learning Methods to Enable Onboard Guidance, Navigation, and Control. 

Iowa Space Grant Consortium – Now Accepting Applications for 2025 Funding Opportunities

The Iowa Space Grant Consortium announced several exciting funding opportunities for students and faculty engaged in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) disciplines that align with NASA’s mission. Explore the programs below and apply by the listed deadlines:

  • Undergraduate STEM Research Scholarship: will be awarded to support outstanding undergraduate students pursuing a degree in STEM disciplines that support NASA’s mission. Application deadline: June 9, 2025.
  • First Year (Merit) Scholarship Program: will be awarded to support outstanding, incoming freshman, undergraduate students pursuing a degree in STEM disciplines that support NASA’s mission. Application deadline: June 9, 2025.
  • Faculty Seed Grant: will provide support to faculty to develop research and engineering programs that align with the NASA Mission Directorate research priorities, with a goal to become a self-sustaining research program. Application deadline: June 13, 2025.
  • Curriculum Development: will support the development of STEM related curricula with a focus on improving student skills. Application deadline: July 31, 2025.

The Conservation, Food and Health Foundation Grants

Description: The Conservation, Food and Health Foundation seeks to protect the environment, improve food production, and promote public health in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Latin America, and the Middle East. The Foundation supports projects and applied research that: Generate local or regional solutions to problems affecting the quality of the environment and human life; Advance local leadership and promote professional development in the conservation, agricultural, and health sciences; Develop the capacity of local organizations and coalitions; and Address challenges in the field.

Mallinckrodt Foundation Grant Program 2025

Description: The mission of the Foundation is to support early stage investigators engaged in basic biomedical research that has the potential to significantly advance the understanding, diagnosis or treatment of disease
Eligibility: Tenure track faculty in the first four years of their appointment, with no current R01 funding.

NSF: Inclusion across the Nation of Communities of Learners of Underrepresented Discoverers in Engineering and Science (NSF INCLUDES)

Description: NSF INCLUDES is a comprehensive, national initiative to enhance U.S. leadership in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) discovery and innovation, focused on NSF's commitment to ensuring accessibility and inclusivity in STEM fields, as communicated in the NSF Strategic Plan for Fiscal Years (FY) 2022 - 2026. The vision of NSF INCLUDES is to catalyze the STEM enterprise to work collaboratively for inclusive change, resulting in a STEM workforce that reflects the diversity of the Nation's population.

NSF: Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation (LSAMP)

Description: The Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation (LSAMP) program invests in the Nation's colleges and universities to aid student success to create a new generation of STEM discoverers for the national STEM enterprise. The program takes a comprehensive approach to the STEM Learning Ecosystem to impact STEM student development and retention. LSAMP is an alliance-based program, whereby a group of institutions of higher education (IHEs) work together to diversify the nation's science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) workforce by increasing the number of STEM baccalaureate and graduate degrees awarded to persons from LSAMP populations.

Reminder: NSF: EPSCoR Research Infrastructure Improvement: EPSCoR Research Incubators for STEM Excellence (E-RISE)

Description: The E-RISE supports hypothesis-driven or problem-driven research and fosters the development of research teams and products in a scientific topical area that aligns with a jurisdiction’s research ecosystem and priorities, as detailed in the jurisdiction’s Science and Technology (S&T) Plan or drawn from other jurisdiction plans, reports, or publications prepared by appropriate authorities or bodies. E-RISE invites innovative proposals within the chosen research area that will lead to development and implementation of sustainable broad networks of individuals, institutions, and organizations, and that will transform the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) research capacity and competitiveness in a jurisdiction.
