Funding Landscape

NSF requests applications for the Cellular and Biochemical Engineering (CBE) program.

The CBE program is part of the Engineering Biology and Health cluster, which also includes: 1) the Biophotonics program; 2) the Biosensing program; 3) the Disability and Rehabilitation Engineering program; and 4) the Engineering of Biomedical Systems program. Proposals should address the novelty and/or potentially transformative nature of the proposed work compared to previous work in the field. The duration of unsolicited proposal awards in CBET is generally up to three years. Single-investigator award budgets typically include support for one graduate student (or equivalent) and up to one month of principal investigator time per year (awards for multiple investigator projects are typically larger). Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) program proposals are strongly encouraged. Proposals are accepted anytime.

Alliance for Cancer Gene Therapy, Inc. (ACGT) requests abstracts for the Edward Netter Memorial Investigator Award in Cell and Gene Therapy for Pancreatic Cancer Research.

ACGT funds research aimed at furthering the development of cell and gene therapy approaches for the treatment of patients with cancer. Pancreatic cancer is an aggressive disease that is predicted to become the second leading cause of cancer related death worldwide by 2030. The overall 5-year survival rate is approximately 10%. Pancreatic cancer typically presents late with locally advanced or metastatic disease, and there are limited effective treatments available. Abstracts are due June 1, 2024.
