Graduate Music Subprogram Changes

This message is intended for all campus contacts that receive program of study (POS) memo updates via email from the Office of the Registrar.

At the request of the Graduate College and College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and with approval from the Office of the Provost, new subprograms have been created for the MA in music (non-thesis) and DMA in music (thesis), effective fall 2026. As part of this change, the piano subprogram for the MA and DMA in music will end. 

Programs of Study Created

• Music (Piano Pedagogy), MA (non-thesis)
• Music (Piano Pedagogy), DMA (thesis)
• Music (Piano Performance), MA (non-thesis)
• Music (Piano Performance), DMA (thesis)

Programs of Study Ending

Summer 2026 will be the last session a student can be admitted to the piano subprograms listed below.

• Music (Piano), MA (non-thesis)
• Music (Piano), DMA (thesis)

Please update your records accordingly.
