Participate in the Food Drive Competition!

We hope you are doing well as spring break approaches! This edition has a number of exciting opportunities for honors students. Did you register for the hybrid UCS event on March 30th hosted by Barry Schreier to secure your seat?

 

Food, Gender, and the Challenges Ahead 

Join the ICFRC Tuesday, March 8th at 12 PM on Zoom to learn about global food security issues as they affect both the U.S. farming/food systems as well as those systems in other countries. Ms. Simmons will highlight the roles that women today play in food systems – as farmer/food producers, in agrifood businesses, in research and technology development, and in making family food choices. Food Drive Competition 

The Honors program is participating in the interdepartmental food drive competition and is looking for donations of winter coats, canned foods, hygiene products, pet food, culturally diverse foods, or beverages. Donations can be dropped off on the first floor of Blank Honors Center. The competition goes until March 11th! 

President's Leadership Class 

PLC is a three-hour, credit-bearing course that meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 2-3:15pm in fall 2022. This second-year experience gives you an inside look at the university, focuses on developing your student leadership through team and campus projects. Applications are open HERE from Monday February 21 – Tuesday March 22 to current first year students. Click HERE to find out more!

 

Honors Mentoring and Teaching Award 

Each year, the Honors Program selects a University of Iowa Honors Instructor for a Mentoring Award and a Teaching Award. You may nominate one instructor for each award. All honors students are invited to nominate an honors instructor for one or both awards through Monday, April 4th at 5 PM CT. Click HERE to nominate! 

Current Student Honors Application 

Are you a current UIowa student looking to join the honors program? Applications are now open through May 2nd! Applicants are required to meet with an honors peer mentor as they develop their materials. Click HERE to find out more! 

New Course Announcement  

Alyssa Park is recruiting honors students to an exciting new course in History! Following on the heels of WWII, the Korean War pushed the limits of a new type of warfare, involved superpowers, cemented the division of the two Koreas, and marked the beginning of the global Cold War. Inside Korea, the North and South battled for supremacy in a civil war. The course gives hands on experience with "doing" history and engaging with current international policy conundrum of the Korean Peninsula. Full course information can be found HERE!
