Friendsgiving Potluck
TODAY November 16th, the Honors Program will be hosting a Friendsgiving Potluck in 440 BHC from 7-9 PM! You are invited to stop by, enjoy some food, hang out, craft, study, and/or socialize! Additionally, from 8-9 PM, the Social Squad will be hosting a gratitude and craft activity for anyone who wants to engage. We encourage all who attend to bring one item to donate for the Friendsgiving Food Drive. Also, if you are interested in bringing a food item to eat and share with others at the potluck please fill out this form!

Honors Professional Staff Spring 2023 Courses
Registration is underway, and the Honors Professional Staff are teaching a few courses next semester. If you need some Honors credit, or just want to take a fun class, consider registering! Honors Associate Director Dr. Emily Hill will be teaching Honors Students and Wellness where honors students learn about how their high ability and wellness interact with one another. There will be a focus on mental health, such as impostor syndrome, existential depression, and the intersectionality of giftedness, mental health, gender, and race. Honors Advising Director Holly Blosser-Yoder will be instructing . Student writers will hone their skills as they create content for the University of Iowa Honors Program’s publications from start to finish — envisioning themes, interviewing, writing, securing photos and captions, workshopping, and editing pieces. Lastly, Honors Assessment Manager & Admissions Coordinator Addison Woll will be teaching . This course is a survey of historical and modern philosophical examinations of what values are and a series of reflective components to apply these lessons to the class’s individual lives. Commitment to Internationalization Lecture Series
On Thursday, November 17th, Bernie Burrola will present a lecture titled, “Combatting Nationalism: Why the World Needs More Internationalization.” It will be from 3:30-5 PM at 1117 University Capitol Center. Bernie Burrola joined the APLU in February 2020, and currently serves as vice president of the Office for International, Community and Economic Engagement. Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa-sponsored events. Are you interested in becoming a Learning Assistant for the listed courses? Apply to be a Learning Assistant by Monday, November 21st at 12 PM CST! Learning Assistants are undergraduate students who, with training and support, help facilitate activities during class sessions to increase active collaboration to improve student learning.
