Interpretation of Ancient Literature: Ancient Heroes in the Modern Day
Looking for 3 s.h. of Honors credit or a class to fulfill the Interpretation of Literature General Education requirement? Professor Art Spisak will be teaching two honors sections of Interpretation of Ancient Literature (CLSA:1200)! The class will read works written by ancient Greeks and Romans that have to do with the process of self-discovery and self-empowerment and compare those characters to pop-culture figures of today, both actual and fictional, and how they go through that same process. Section 0001 will meet at 9:30 AM MWF and Section 0002 will meet 10:30 MWF. Each class will be capped at 20 students. For more information, see HERE!

Pumpkin Painting Night
We have another wonderful Honors event coming up that is going to be hosted by the Honors Program Social Squad! On October 26th, they invite you all to Pumpkin Painting Night. This event will be held in 440 BHC and you are welcome to stop by, paint a pumpkin, and/or hang out any time from 6:30-9:30 p.m. If you are interested in joining in this night of fall fun they just ask that you RSVP by October 20th. (This will ensure that there are enough supplies for all interested) .They look forward to seeing you there (and don’t forget to bring you Iowa One Card to access the fourth floor)! Using the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals to Train Tomorrow’s Sustainability Leaders
On October 26th at 12 PM, the Iowa City Foreign Relations Council, in collaboration with the Johnson County UN Association, will host an in-person program titled “Using the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals to Train Tomorrow’s Sustainability Leaders.” The speaker will be Dr. David Cwiertny, the William D. Ashton Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Iowa. This presentation will introduce the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the new MS program at the University of Iowa built around them and talk more broadly about the skills and competencies needed to turn the SDGs into reality. The program will also be livestreamed.

Have you ever thought that video games could be as character-building as things like hiking or exams? According to Seth Alan Foster, his experiences with the game Dark Souls has encouraged a lot of personal growth from persisting in completing the challenges in the game.
