Inactive Course Review

This message is being sent to all academic departmental administrators (ADAs) who have inactive courses up for review in fall 2025. Please disregard this email if you are listed as an ADA but don't serve in a role that works with inactive courses. If you get this message in error, please forward it to the appropriate individual within your unit.

Fall 2025 Inactive Course Review Schedule

Academic Departmental Administrator's (ADA) Review Period in MAUI  September 10–30
Academic Workflow DDEO Approval in Universal Workflow  October 1–22

Steps for ADA Review Period

Departments should review each relevant workflow form and indicate whether a course should be dropped or kept as active. During the review period, any user may view, comment on, or update the forms in MAUI. Forms are not active yet in Universal Workflow at this time, allowing multiple users to edit the forms before they are routed to the academic workflow DDEOs.

The steps are as follows for the ADA review period:

  • Navigate to the Inactive Courses Workflow in the MAUI Course Library dashboard.
  • Select "Fall 2026" in the session box.
  • Use the other boxes to filter by academic unit, course subject, and/or status.
  • Update each course form with a status of either "keep" or "drop" (you must include a rationale when recommending to keep a course).
  • Click "save" on each course form to save your work.

DDEO Approval in Universal Workflow

On Wednesday, Oct. 1 all forms will automatically route to the workflow inboxes of deans, directors, or departmental executive officers who serve as academic workflow DDEOs. The forms will reflect edits made to them in MAUI prior to this automatic routing. This person must take action on each form to advance it in workflow, confirming the "keep" or "drop" recommendation for each course.

Please coordinate the approval process within your unit to prevent duplication of effort and/or erroneous dropping of courses. Once a form is active in workflow, it cannot be revised by ADAs.
