New Active Practice Opportunities

Practice for Sale- Elkader, Iowa

A scenic Northeast Iowa Main Street community with a strong supportive patient base has the opportunity for a solo practitioner or an associate within a busy group practice. Strong community support is available to complement the FIND project and its partners. Idyllic main street location offers nearby amenities of restaurants, shopping, post office, cultural arts and entertainment. Full length windows lighten a spacious waiting room. A separate x-ray room is ready to convert into an extra operatory. Two operatories offer patients views of murals from an Art in the Alley project. A sturdy spiral staircase opens to a private area with gallery kitchen, private bathroom, separate office space, and hidden washer and dryer. Purchase of building and practice includes dental office space, private upstairs space, and the potential for income from the rental unit upstairs. Price of the dental practice only would involve becoming a tenant.

Associateship with option for buy out- Jacksonville, North Carolina

Dynamic Dental is a 4 practice DSO in Coastal North Carolina. We are looking for eager graduates who would prefer to avoid the corporate dentistry that is becoming so common in our industry.

We have a very specific goal of hanging on to our local dentist atmosphere while also harnessing the financial benefits of building a networked group. Our practices are located in a geographical range from Jacksonville, NC to just north of Myrtle Beach! On top of the great locations, part of our metrics for achieving our atmosphere goal is that we want to invest in our dental associates with the opportunities to actually buy and own a practice if they want to. We do offer a sign-on bonus and then if the associate were to want to own, we would also offer owner financing to help them achieve their goals.

ADA Practice Transitions (ADAPT)

"ADA Practice Transitions (ADAPT) is here to make entering or leaving a practice more predictable, enjoyable and stress free.

ADAPT, a service of ADA Business Innovation Group, matches dentists who are looking to join a practice with owners who are seeking an associate or someone to purchase their practice. We are bringing dentists all the tools, information and support that is vital to the process while facilitating matches based on what matters to dentists the most - their philosophy of care.  We work closely with our clients, offering training and coaching - all with a focus on allowing them to achieve their individual and mutual goals."

Delta Dental Foundation's Iowa FIND Project- Fulfilling Iowa's Need for Dentists (Loan Repayment)

The FIND Project is committed to connecting dentists and underserved communities with the resources needed to combat Iowa’s dental shortage, so that dental care is close to home for every Iowan. FIND collaborates with communities and dentists on the recruitment and establishment of private practice dental offices located in underserved areas in Iowa.

Iowa’s dental care shortage hits home. If you live in rural Iowa, chances are your community is considered a dental health professional shortage area (HPSA). After all, over half of counties in Iowa are federally designated HPSAs, and many more are at risk. Based on data from the Iowa Department of Public Health and the University of Iowa:

  • Eighty-six of Iowa’s counties are dental shortage priority counties.
  • Twenty-one of those counties are considered high priority (with 1 or less full-time dentist or all the dentists are aged 60 or older).
  • Four Iowa counties have no dentists and three counties have no full-time dentists.

With an overall shortage of dentists – and many active dentists facing imminent retirement – it is imperative that rural Iowa communities actively recruit new dentists to serve coming generations.

Financial Intelligence: A Manager's Guide to Knowing What the Numbers Really Mean by Karen Berman, Joe Knight, and John Case

"Companies expect managers to use financial data to allocate resources and run their departments. But many managers can't read a balance sheet, wouldn't recognize a liquidity ratio, and don't know how to calculate return on investment. Worse, they don't have any idea where the numbers come from or how reliable they really are. In Financial Intelligence, Karen Berman and Joe Knight teach the basics of finance--but with a twist. Financial reporting, they argue, is as much art as science. Because nobody can quantify everything, accountants always rely on estimates, assumptions, and judgment calls. Savvy managers need to know how those sources of possible bias can affect the financials and that sometimes the numbers can be challenged. While providing the foundation for a deep understanding of the financial side of business, the book also arms managers with practical strategies for improving their companies' performance--strategies, such as "managing the balance sheet," that are well understood by financial professionals but rarely shared with their nonfinancial colleagues. Accessible, jargon-free, and filled with entertaining stories of real companies, Financial Intelligence gives nonfinancial managers the financial knowledge and confidence for their everyday work."

2 copies of the book are available to borrow from Lindsey.
