Professional Development Award - Survey Open through Aug. 16

Learning & Development is offering professional development awards covering the costs of selected for-fee workshops this fall. Eligibility is open to all UI staff members with a regular appointment of 50% time or greater. To maximize participation, you may select one workshop.

Please Note: Some workshops require multiple sessions. PLEASE ONLY CHOOSE A WORKSHOP IF YOU CAN ATTEND ALL SESSIONS OF YOUR PREFERRED WORKSHOP. Discuss the opportunity with your supervisor, plan your development time in advance, and mark dates on your calendar.

You should have received a Qualtrics survey link via email on Thursday, Aug. 8. Because the link is specific to each person in the email, we are not able to reshare a link in this email. Please reach out to uilearndevelop@uiowa.edu if you did not receive a survey link.

Surveys should be completed by Friday, Aug. 16 at 5 p.m.

Generative AI Hub

The AI hub on the Information Technology Resources (ITS) website explains how AI works and outlines guidelines and use cases. You can learn how to use AI securely, the benefits and limitations of using AI in academics and research, a list of available AI tools, and more.

Generative artificial intelligence (generative AI or GenAI) is a type of artificial intelligence that can generate text, images, and other media using generative models. Generative AI models identify the patterns and structures within existing data to generate new content.

As the University of Iowa continues to explore AI, generative AI in particular, they're open to learning more about how you are using AI. Faculty and staff can email their AI experiences, questions, and suggestions to ai-feedback@uiowa.edu.

Reminder: You Can Self-Register for AACRAO!

The American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO) is a non-profit, voluntary, professional association working to make higher education more responsive to learners. With a membership of more than 15,000 higher education professionals representing approximately 2,300 institutions in more than 40 countries, the association provides advocacy, research, and policy-based guidance and training to higher education professionals to smooth the path for learners at every stage of their journey.

Under AACRAO's previous membership model, there were a limited number of roster spots available to be used by the Office of the Registrar and Admissions. Now, AACRAO provides open rosters to all institutional members, allowing for unlimited members at every institution. Under the new structure, as long as an institution has an active AACRAO membership, all staff members can join AACRAO under that institution's account.

Self-register using the link below and you'll gain access to AACRAO member benefits.
