The Fall Undergraduate Research Festivals (FURF) is held in celebration and recognition of undergraduate researchers' contributions to research, scholarly, and creative work at the University of Iowa. All students involved in mentored research or creative work are invited to present their work at these festivals utilizing posters or other visual displays. Everyone is welcome to attend and discover the incredible work done by undergraduate students across campus!

Looking for Faculty, Grad-Student, Post-Doc & Staff Evaluators

Are you interested in helping out with FURF this Fall???  We are looking for volunteers to help evaluate student posters and presentations.  You can sign up to help for just an hour or stay for the full two hours.

How to Create a Research Poster

Join OUR Ambassadors as they show how to design and prepare a poster for conference presentation. Preparation will be held this Thursday October 19th in room 2520D of the University Captial Center. This event is perfect for FURF participants, aspiring researchers, and all undergraduate students.

First Year Seminar Poster Session

At the annual First-Year Seminar Poster Session, students have the opportunity to present their findings in the form of a large poster.  Attendees can view each poster and speak with presenters about their findings. Being able to participate in a poster session as a first year, first semester student is an incredibly unique learning experience.  Please come out and support these new researchers!

Register Your Research

Make sure you're recognized for your fall research! Register for a 0-4 credit hour course, which can be pass/fail or graded.

Funding Opportunities

Research Supply Grant

Small grants of up to $1,000 are available to facilitate undergraduate research and creative scholarship. These funds are open for use for purchasing research supply materials as well as traveling to conduct research if the facilities or materials are not available at Iowa. Applications will be accepted until the funding is exhausted.

Student Travel Awards

One-time grants are available to UI undergraduate researchers who are traveling to a professional conference or professional development event.  Students can request up to $500 per application, and applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

Searching for New OUR Ambassadors

If you or someone you know is looking to get involved, please look into becoming an OUR Ambassador. OUR's Research Ambassadors are a group of UI undergraduates who are actively involved in research and creative work on campus. They assist with campus recruiting and outreach, event planning, and other ways to promote undergraduate involvement.
