This message is being sent to all academic departmental administrators, advisors, DEOs, and collegiate administrators. If you do not provide prerequisite special permission for your department or college, please disregard this message.
Review for satisfactory completion of prerequisites for students enrolled in spring 2023 full semester-length courses is underway. We ask that you review the student’s prerequisite status in MAUI prior to the following drop dates:
Thursday, Dec. 22
In Progress UI Coursework will be checked after final grade submission.
Wednesday, Jan. 11
Prerequisite coursework from other institution marked as "Conditional-Proof Required" will be checked during the early morning hours.
UI coursework that was submitted for fall 2022 as an "I" or "O" will also be checked. If grade changes have not been submitted and approved, students will be dropped from their spring 2023 coursework.
Departmental Action
The Prerequisite Special Permission Report and Method of Meeting Prerequisites Report can be used as comprehensive reports to check prerequisite special permission for courses within your department. Departmental Administrators can also view each course's Special Permission panel within Offerings Planner to check prerequisite special permission.
In Progress UI Coursework:
- As part of fall 2022 final grade posting, students are automatically reviewed for satisfactory completion of prerequisites for spring courses.
- For a course where prerequisite special permission status is indicated as "In Progress UI Coursework," no further action is needed unless the student should not be dropped from this course.
- If student should not be dropped with this prerequisite permission, update the permission status to either “Permanent” or “Met-Proof Provided.”
Conditional-Proof Required:
- Please review all submitted Proof of Completion forms and take the appropriate action.
- If approving satisfactory completion without the form, update the prerequisite permission to either "Permanent" or "Met-Proof Provided" via Offerings Planner or via the student's special permission panel.
Notification of potential prerequisite drops will be sent to students ten calendar days (seven business days) prior to the semester for those with "Conditional-Proof Required" special permission.
Once the prerequisite drop process runs on the dates listed above, students should not be given "Conditional-Proof Required" prerequisite permission as the process runs nightly. In place of this type of permission, please assign the student either “Permanent” or “Proof-Provided” prerequisite permission to ensure they remain enrolled in the course. Assigning any other type of prerequisite permission results in the student being dropped from the course the following day.
Prerequisite drop dates may vary for off-cycle courses (those not meeting the full semester).
