Departmental Action

The Prerequisite Special Permission Report and Method of Meeting Prerequisites Report can be used as comprehensive reports to check prerequisite special permission for courses within your department. Departmental Administrators can also view each course's Special Permission panel within Offerings Planner to check prerequisite special permission.

Review of UI Coursework

When the prerequisite special permission status is In Progress UI Coursework

  • No further action is needed unless the student should not be dropped from this course.
  • If student should not be dropped with this prerequisite permission, update the permission status to either “Permanent” or “Met-Proof Provided.”

Review of Other Coursework

When the prerequisite special permission status is Conditional-Proof Required

  • Please review all submitted Proof of Completion forms and take the appropriate action.
  • If approving satisfactory completion without the form, update the prerequisite permission to either "Permanent" or "Met-Proof Provided" via Offerings Planner or via the student's special permission panel.

Other Coursework: Conditional-Proof Required

Notifications

Notification of potential prerequisite drops will be sent to students ten calendar days (seven business days) prior to the semester or sub-session for those with "Conditional-Proof Required" special permission.

Nightly Checks

Once the prerequisite drop process runs on the dates listed above, students should not be given "Conditional-Proof Required" prerequisite permission as the process runs nightly. In place of this type of permission, please assign the student either “Permanent” or “Proof-Provided” prerequisite permission to ensure they remain enrolled in the course. Assigning any other type of prerequisite permission results in the student being dropped from the course the following day.
