Prerequisite Reminder

Spring 2026 Prerequisite Review Reminder

This message is for departmental administrators, advisors, DEOs, and collegiate administrators who manage prerequisite special permissions. If you do not provide prerequisite special permission for your department or college, no action is needed.

Prerequisite review for students enrolled in spring 2026 full semester-length courses is underway. Please review and update prerequisite permissions in MAUI by the deadlines below.

Key Deadlines

Monday, Dec. 29

  • Review students with In Progress UI Coursework prerequisite permission.

Tuesday, Jan. 13

  • Review students with Conditional – Proof Required prerequisite permission.

Departmental Action

Use the Prerequisite Special Permission Report and Method of Meeting Prerequisites Report to review prerequisite permissions for courses in your department. You may also review permissions in each course’s Special Permission panel in the Offerings Planner.

In Progress UI Coursework

  • No action is required unless the student should remain enrolled.
  • If student should not be dropped, update the permission status to either Permanent or Met Proof - Provided.

Conditional-Proof Required

  • Review all submitted Proof of Completion forms and take appropriate action.
  • Do not issue Conditional – Proof Required permissions beginning Jan. 14, which is the prerequisite check for Non-UI Coursework. Doing so will result in the student being dropped.
  • If approving satisfactory completion without the form, update the prerequisite permission to Permanent or Met - Proof Provided.

Additional Notes

  • Prerequisites for off-cycle courses are evaluated three business days before the course start date and may not require review at this time.
  • If a student's permission is updated to Not Met, the department must remove that status and apply Permanent or Met – Proof Provided for the student to re-enroll or join the waitlist (if space allows).
