Sign up here | | | | Through February 4, University of Iowa (UI) and Iowa State University (ISU) are partnering to host a survey leading to a series of Innovation Labs facilitated by Knowinnovation. The Innovation Labs will connect UI and ISU researchers and networks to generate novel interdisciplinary research ideas, help refine research questions, build interdisciplinary teams, and begin the important task of writing team-based, impactful, winning research proposals. With your involvement, expertise, and enthusiasm, new and exciting paths can be charted for Iowa researchers leading to the capture of climate change and sustainability science research funding.

Register for the Innovation Labs here. | | | Applications are sought for collaborative, one-year OVPR Community Engaged Scholars proposals with awards up to $50k to support creating and solidifying community research and scholarship partnerships within Iowa. The goal is to support community engaged research and scholarship partnerships that reciprocally benefit the University and Iowa communities.
Letters of Intent due February 4, 2022, with full applications, by invitation only, due April 15, 2022. See the OVPR Community Engaged Scholars RFP here. | | | | The National Science Foundation considers two criteria in their review of proposals: intellectual merit and broader impacts (BI). Broader impacts relate to how the proposed research will “benefit society or advance desired societal outcomes” and is increasingly used as the differentiator between which excellent proposals to fund or not.
The Training Team from the NSF-supported Advancing Research Impact in Society (ARIS) organization will conduct five interactive virtual workshops on Friday February 11, 25; March 11, 25; and April 8 from 9am-11am.

| | | | Jumpstarting Tomorrow Round 1 teams will assist in distributing $50k through a competitive feasibility grant program. These grants will support new campus relationships that emerge from the team's community building activities. The Community Feasibility Grants will allow teams to develop feasibility data to support their efforts in securing future federal funding.

| | | | Jumpstarting a Quantum Simulation Program Journal Club The Jumpstarting a Quantum Simulation Program team at the University of Iowa are organizing a Journal Club to bring together a community of interested graduate students, research staff, and faculty learn about research ongoing across campus as well as around the world. The Journal club will be held biweekly on Wednesdays in IATL 334, with a hybrid online option available. The time will alternate between 4 pm and 9 am on Wednesdays to accommodate a wider range of schedules.
Each week one speakers selected from the attendees will present a seminal paper from their field. The first week (2nd of February 4 pm) we will start with Prof. Ravi Uppu, Assistant Professor of Physics and Astronomy and PI of the Jumpstarting team.
