Improving Scholarly Communication Series: Speaking for Success

This session reviews how adults learn as a means to examine effective delivery techniques to engage scientific and clinical peer audiences. It provides practical information on how to deliver memorable oral and PowerPoint presentations in the classroom, the conference room, the auditorium, and at the regional or national meeting.

Neuroscience, Development, and Mental Well-Being Virtual Ideas Lab

This fall, the RDO is hosting a virtual eight-week Neuroscience, Development, and Mental Well-Being Ideas Lab (two hours per week through September 20-November 8) where attendees will have a unique opportunity to explore this topic, develop innovative approaches to this complex problem together, and compete for feasibility funding.

Connect Your Researchers to Funding Opportunities: Pivot Administrative Features

Join us for an information and demonstration session that will introduce Pivot Administrative Features.  Topics covered will include crafting and saving funding opportunity searches, creating calendars and newsletters, sharing and tracking opportunities, editing profiles, and enabling weekly email alerts. We will also discuss how to request access to the additional administrative privileges.

Data Management and Sharing Plans for Grant Proposals

NIH, NSF, and many other research funders require data management plans as part of the funding proposal. A good plan may help you provide a more competitive proposal. Brian Westra, Data Services Manager of UI Libraries, will cover the foundational elements of these plans, campus resources and policies you can include in the plan, and look at some examples. Bring your plan if you have started working on one.

Increase Grant Competitiveness through an External Review

Would you like to receive critical feedback on your grant proposal by an expert in your field? The External Grant Review program facilitates one external review that provides a funding agency specific review of your proposal concluding with both written and oral comments.

Networking Surveys

Networking surveys create a directory to help identify potential collaborators for your ideas and projects. There are currently eight topics represented: 1) human-technology interface, 2) artificial intelligence/machine learning, 3) e-cigarettes/vaping, 4) global health, 5) mental health, 6) opioids, 7) COVID-19, and 8) microfabrication/nanofabrication.
