LAST CHANCE TO REGISTER: Unlocking the Power of Radiochemistry Symposium: From Medical Imaging to Nuclear Energy

Symposium

This is a half-day symposium surrounding radiochemistry research at the University of Iowa on Thursday, February 29 from 1:00-5:15 pm in the Iowa Memorial Union. The goal of this symposium is to raise awareness of the breadth of radiochemistry research happening on campus and connect researchers to spur innovative interdisciplinary research, supported by a one-time interdisciplinary seed grant program.

Seed Funding

We invite collaborative research proposals to support projects which integrate radiochemistry with other disciplines while promoting advancements in scientific knowledge, technology, and applications. Successful proposals may receive awards up to $45,000 for 18 months as part of the Seeding Excellence Initiative. Letters of Interest (LOIs) are due April 12 with full applications due June 14. Charting Success: Perspectives from NSF REU Recipients

Join us for a compelling panel discussion featuring recent awardees of the NSF Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program, including both Sites and Supplement funding. This session, hosted by OUR and RDO, offers insights into the preparation and submission of successful NSF REU applications. Lunch is provided please register to attend.

Arts & Humanities Initiative (AHI) Internal Deadline: March 26

AHI is an internal funding program within the OVPR that encourages leading edge scholarship, creative activities, and interdisciplinary research. AHI Programs Include:

  • AHI Standard Grant: Support up to $7,500 is available for individual or collaborative grants that focus on humanities scholarship and work in the creative, visual, and performing arts. 
  • AHI Major Project Grant: Accepts applications up to $30,000 in support of preliminary work for highly innovative projects that impact the field, discipline, or broader community.
  • AHI Major Conference Grant: Accepts applications up to $10,000 in support of new conferences, symposia, seminars, colloquia, or workshops.

Interdisciplinary Consortium for the Study of War and Genocide

The aim of this in-person speed networking event is to build the momentum for the development of an Interdisciplinary Consortium for the Study of War and Genocide. It is envisioned that this Consortium will bring together scholars and artists working in the areas of war, genocide, or ethnic and political violence to facilitate collaboration and exchange of knowledge.

LAST CHANCE TO APPLY for Design Workshop for Environmental Studies Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration

The Obermann Center invites campus artists, humanities scholars, and social science researchers to envision the University of Iowa campus as a “living laboratory” for environmental research. This workshop is part of the Obermann Center Spring 2024 initiative, Envisioning Interdisciplinary Environmental Research. Teams will create cross-disciplinary projects that engage with the campus space, aiming to prototype collaborative environmental research for the public good. Participants will also learn a design-thinking approach for future endeavors.
