Josh Kettelkamp is a non-traditional third-year medical student at the Carver College of Medicine with a prior career in defense aerospace. Prior to medical school, Josh worked as a program manager supporting the modernization of the US Coast Guard’s MH65 helicopter avionics equipment upgrade.

He has contributed to clinical informatics research aimed at reducing alert fatigue in electronic medical records, which was recently published in the Journal of Applied Clinical Informatics. This research will be shared as a podium presentation as the featured quality improvement project at the Midwest Society for Pediatric Research Conference.

His summer research fellowship included contributions to a multi-institutional research project, focusing on enhancing predictive modeling to support machine learning-driven, patient-specific immunosuppression therapy in kidney transplant care. His work was awarded the Presidential Student Mentorship Grant from the American Society of Transplant Surgeons and was shared as a podium presentation at the World Transplant Congress.
