Whether you’re searching for an internship, looking to land a full-time job, or just curious as to which companies recruit on campus, you do not want to miss our All Majors Career Fair happening on Thursday, September 22 from 11am-4pm in the IMU Main Lounge & 2nd Floor Ballroom! Practice Your Elevator Pitch

Wondering how to introduce yourself to companies? Make sure your pitch is on point and learn more on how to network with employers!

Practice with Mocks

Make sure you’re interview ready by having a mock interview with one of our employer partners. You’ll be asked general interview questions (like the dreaded, “Tell me about yourself”!) and receive feedback on how you can improve your responses. Having a mock interview is also a great way to network with employers! Sign-up on Handshake!

Use Big Interview

Big Interview can be used to learn and practice your interview skills, but it also is a great tool use before the Career Fair so you can practice telling others about your skills and why you would be a great hire.

What to Wear for the Fair

Dress for the fair is business/smart casual (or professional if you wish!), but you don’t need to drop a lot of cash to look profesh! Stop by the Clothing Closet & the Queer Trans Closing Closet for free gently-used professional attire, including shoes and accessories.  

Smart casual includes items like blazers, sports jackets, dresses, sweaters, trousers, khakis, skirts, blouses, button-down shirts, polos, dress shoes, boots, heels, flats, scarves and jewelry.

 

Business casual includes trousers, pencil skirts, slacks, khakis, blouses, button-down shirts, polos, sweaters and sports coats. Accessories may include simple jewelry, belts or ties. Business casual shoes include loafers, lifestyle sneakers (with leather or canvas), mules, flats, Oxfords, boots and heels.

 

Business professional typically refers to clothing choices like dark-colored (gray, navy) suits and ties, pantsuits, tidy dresses, skirts or slacks. Tops include button-down shirts (in colors like white or light-blue), blouses and a blazer.

Shoes should be closed-toe like an Oxford, loafer and classic heels no higher than 3 inches. Accessories can include minimal jewelry, matching belts and ties in a solid color or stripes. Avoid chunky, noisy jewelry, bold colors and busy patterns.

Get a Fair Tour

If this is your first time attending the Career Fair, take a fair tour when you arrive to get a quick rundown of what to do and what to expect before interacting with employers. Tours will be offered at 11:30, 12:30, 1:30, and 2:30 and depart from the Iowa Theatre.
