FURF is held in celebration and recognition of undergraduate researchers' contributions to research, scholarly, and creative work at the University of Iowa. All students involved in mentored research or creative work are invited to present their work at these festivals utilizing posters or other visual displays. Everyone is welcome to attend and discover the incredible work done by undergraduate students across campus!

Faculty/Grad Students/Post Docs

We are looking for faculty, graduate student, post-doc or professional staff volunteers to serve as evaluators for our undergraduate researchers.  Evaluators can request to help for either time period (4-5pm or 5-6pm). Register Here.  

Research Opportunities

Undergraduate Research Conference

The conference will take place on Saturday, October 14th, from 10:00am-1:00pm. It provides a space for students to learn about research and includes a keynote speaker, developmental workshops, and free food! Please register if you plan on attending.  Register Here.

Funding Opportunities

Research Supply Grant

Small grants of up to $1,000 are available to facilitate undergraduate research and creative scholarship. These funds are open for use for purchasing research supply materials as well as traveling to conduct research if the facilities or materials are not available at Iowa. Applications will be accepted until the funding is exhausted.

Student Travel Awards

One-time grants are available to UI undergraduate researchers who are traveling to a professional conference or professional development event.  Students can request up to $500 per application, and applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

Iowa Sciences Academy is offering a 1 s.h. off-cycle course from Oct. 12 - Dec. 7 to help students find research positions on campus. Registration is open now!
