Spring 2021 Virtual Commencement and Celebration Deadlines

Virtual Commencement

The deadline to RSVP and submit a slide photo is Thursday, April 22 at 11:59 p.m.

This deadline is firm and non-negotiable.

If you know someone who is thinking about graduating in spring 2021 and they have not RSVP'd, we would encourage them to do so now!

Students must let us know if they will or will not attend the ceremony for their major(s). If a student wants to be individually recognized during the spring virtual ceremonies they must RSVP Yes to be included in upcoming virtual ceremonies.

The following message was sent yesterday at 10 a.m. to spring '21 degree applicants who have not yet RSVP'd yes or no as of April 7, 2021: Virtual Commencement RSVP Deadline Approaching

RSVP Frequently Asked Questions and additional information about the spring 2021 ceremonies can be found on commencement.uiowa.edu

All virtual ceremonies will be livestreamed at their scheduled time and day.  The video production team is still hard at work producing the videos, and a direct ceremony link is not available at this time. Each ceremony will be unique to the college, and the video link will be available in the "Watch Live" section of the collegiate ceremony page at least one day prior to the ceremony.

In-Person Events

As you may have heard, The University of Iowa will host two in-person events to celebrate the achievements of the spring 2021 graduating class. These events are separate from the virtual commencement ceremonies; RSVPing for a virtual commencement does not register anyone for the Celebration of Graduates at Kinnick.

All Spring 2021, Summer 2021, and recent REACH Program Completion students are eligible to participate. Eligible students who have applied for a degree should have received an email Monday, April 5th with instructions on how to register.

The deadline to register is May 1 at 11:55 p.m.

More information about the in-person events can be found on the Celebration 2021 page.

The UI Commencement Team is helping to coordinate communication, but is not directly involved with organizing or staffing in-person events in spring 2021.

If you have questions about the in-person events please send a note using the Spring 2021 In-Person Event Contact Form.
