Research in the Capitol

Research in the Capitol (RIC) takes students from the three regent universities (UI, ISU, and UNI) to the Iowa State Capitol to talk to Iowa's legislators about undergraduate research and creative scholarship. 

Undergraduates involved in any field are invited to apply and twenty will be chosen.  Students are welcome to apply together to give one poster/presentation.

Deadline:  March 3, 2025. Register Now.

Quick Pick Challenge

The Office of Undergraduate Research Quick Pitch Challenge (QPC) is a communication competition that challenges undergraduate students to present their research or creative work to a general audience in three minutes. Participants from all majors and areas of study are invited to showcase their work on campus.

Undergraduate Research Fellowships

The OUR Fellowship Program allows current University of Iowa undergraduates in any discipline to work with UI faculty or professional & scientific staff mentors on a specific project during the academic year and/or summer. More information on the Fellowship Programs.

Spring Undergraduate Research Festival (SURF)

The OUR Fall and Spring Undergraduate Research Festivals (FURF and SURF) are held in celebration and recognition of undergraduate contributions to research, scholarship, and creative work at the University of Iowa.  All students involved in mentored research or creative work are invited to present their work at these festivals utilizing posters or other visual displays.

Interested in helping provide feedback for presenters? We need Faculty, Graduate/Professional Students, Post-Docs, Professional Staff, and community members to serve as judges for the event. Sign-up to be a judge for SURF
