Course Library Summary Page Enhancements
Brittany Benda- Office of the Registrar
Links added to the course summary page of Course Library.
Users can now select one of the linked fields on a course’s summary page to find more information about the field.
- This will help users who are not familiar with where information is kept on which page within the tabs drop-down menu.
- For example, selecting the corequisite link will take you to the course’s prerequisite page.
Curriculum Requirements on Webpages
Kristan Hellige and Sara Morelli - Office of the Registrar
- During the annual curriculum review process driven by the General Catalog, we’ve found that some departmental websites include curriculum information. Once published, this information can be problematic if the webmaster is not reviewing and updating regularly. Course information changes throughout the year, such as titles or course numbers, and webmasters may not realize the change has happened or that it is incorrectly recorded on a website.
- When outdated or incorrect curriculum information is stored on departmental websites, our students aren’t getting accurate information about their program.
- The General Catalog is considered the authoritative record of curriculum information and is updated regularly when course library information changes. The catalog’s curriculum requirements are reviewed annually in workflow by faculty and staff who have been appointed as designated reviewers.
- We ask that you consider removing curriculum requirements from your departmental website and link to the General Catalog instead.
- While we prefer you link to the General Catalog, if you have a need to put additional specific curriculum information on your website, please consider adding a last updated date.
- Contact registrar-publications@uiowa.edu with any questions.

Additional Questions
A question was asked about “GE: Sustainability” showing up on course descriptions in MyUI. After reviewing all Sustainability courses, we found that two were displaying the GE in incorrect sessions. We have corrected them in MAUI, but one is still appearing incorrectly in MyUI. We will continue to monitor it when there is a full weekly data transfer from MAUI to MyUI and should know more by Monday, April 8. Contrary to what was expressed during the meeting, other course description changes are displaying appropriately based on effective session.
